We are a people immersed in Scripture, walking daily in the power of the Holy Spirit, and rooted in the sacred mysteries of the Catholic faith. Ours is not a borrowed fire, it is the flame of Pentecost rekindled in the heart of the Church. The Word of God is our foundation, the Holy Spirit our guide, and the Eucharist our strength. We don’t leave tradition behind, we awaken it. This is not a movement outside the Church, but a revival from within. We are the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, alive, faithful, and on fire for God.
Who we are?
Onitsha Inland CCRN is the coordinating zonal body and service structure of Onitsha Inland Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria(CCRN) in the Onitsha Region of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha. It promotes collaboration amongst the seven constituent Prayer Communities namely:
- Mary Mother of Mercy Prayer Community (St. Mary’s Parish Onitsha)
- Holy Spirit Prayer Community (Holy Spirit Parish Omagba)
- Divine Love Prayer Community (St. Charles Borromeo)
- Jesus the Lamb of God Prayer Community (St. Thomas Aquinas’ Parish, Onitsha)
- Divine Love Prayer Community (St. Patricks’ Parish Odume Obosi)
- Divine love Prayer Community (Holy Family Parish Odume Obosi)
- Divine Love Prayer Community (Holy Trinity Parish Odume Obosi)
- Divine Love Community(St. Charles Borromeo Chaplaincy).
Onitsha Inland CCR, exists to strengthen and support the spiritual growth of Renewal members at the zonal level or engaging with individual persons, ensuring simultaneous growth among the communities.
Our Objectives
A Life Surrendered to Jesus
To foster mature and continuous personal conversion to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
Baptized in the Holy Spirit
To foster a decisive personal receptivity to the person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit. These two spiritual graces are often experienced together in what is called in different parts of the world as baptism in the Holy Spirit or a release of the Holy Spirit or a renewal of the Holy Spirit. They are most often understood as personal acceptance of the graces of Christian initiation and as an empowering for personal Christian service in the Church and in the world.
Stirring the Gifts of the Spirit
To foster reception and use of the spiritual gifts (charismatic) not only in the CCR but also in the broader Church. These gifts, ordinary and extraordinary, are abundantly found among laity, religious and clergy. Their proper understanding and use in harmony with other elements of the Church life is a source of strength for Christians on their journey towards holiness and in the carrying out of their mission.
Evangelizing with Power and Purpose
To foster work of evangelization in the power of the Holy Spirit, including the evangelization of the unchurched, the re-evangelization of culture and social structures. CCR especially promotes sharing in the Church’s mission by proclaiming the gospel in word and deed and by bearing witness to Jesus Christ through personal testimony and through those works of faith and justice to which each one is called.
Growing in Holiness within the Church
To foster the ongoing growth in holiness through the proper integration of these charismatic emphases with the full life of the Church. This is accomplished through participation in a rich sacramental and liturgical life and appreciation of the tradition of the Catholic prayer and spirituality and ongoing formation in Catholic doctrine. This is guided by the Church’s Magisterium and participation in the pastoral plan of the Church.
