HISTORY OF ONITSHA INLAND CCRN
It was In 2003 at St.Mary’s Parish that brother Gabriel Edeh who had just finished his two tenures as coordinator of Mary Mother of Mercy Prayer Community, St.Mary’s Catholic Church Inland Town Onitsha, came up with the idea of bringing together the entire parishes within Onitsha Inland town, thus Inland Zone CCRN.
The First meeting was at St.Mary’s, followed by Holy Spirit Parish, Omagba and St.Charles Borromeo Parishes respectively. Thereafter, Joint Rotational fellowships, prayer meetings, programmes and All night vigils commenced.
Brother Gabriel Edeh had completed his second tenure as Zonal Coordinator in 2009 and was no longer willing to continue with Zonal leadership.
However, Brother Eugene Mary Obiudu, former coordinator of CCR, St. Mary’s Parish stepped into the gap, coordinating the Zonal programmes with the cooperation of some leaders from both Holy Family Spirit and St. Charles Borromeo parishes. Chuma Nwajiaku of Holy Spirit Parish was latter appointed the leader of the Prayer Team and was assisted by James Agbo of St.Marys Parish.
Formal election to replace bro.Gabriel Edeh was later conducted and brother Christopher Aniekwe emerged as zonal Coordinator.
It should be noted that the services Eugene Mary Obiudu rendered to the zone was not in the capacity of elected coordinator of the Zone because he was never officially elected nor vied for coordinatorship of the zone.
